Plastics
X-rays of plastics are recommended in order to detect pores, pore fields, density differences and microstructures as well as to make dirt or foreign particles clearly visible.
In this method, it is advantageous to use X-rays with a low voltage of typically 30 to 100 kV.
For large-format test specimens with material thicknesses of about 300 mm in foam-like polymers, an optimal result is achieved at a voltage of about 160 keV.
Our range of services includes the X-ray of various plastics from different manufacturing processes, such as:
Injection molding processes
polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polycarbonate (PC) and many other thermoplastics.
Blow molding processes
polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and others used for the production of bottles, containers and hollow bodies.
Extrusion processes
polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other thermoplastics for the production of profiles, pipes and films.
Condensation polymerization
polyesters (PET, PBT), polyamides (nylon 6, nylon 6.6) and others used for technical applications.
Addition polymerization
polystyrene (PS), polyacrylonitrile (PAN), polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), which are used for a wide range of applications in packaging, components and consumer products.
Our X-ray inspections are carried out according to the specific requirements of your plastic parts and products in order to provide you with the best possible results and quality assurance.
